    JNCO

The Jazz/ Noise Collaborative Orchestra! Originally it was a monthly-series myself, Reggie Purdue and Nick Weckman have hosted at Cafe Bourbon Street 2016-2020. It now lives on a quarterly-basis @ a variety of venues (Dirty Dungarees, Cafe Bourbon Street, Olde First Presbyterian, Fuse Factory) as of 2024. There is a featured act (local/ midwest/ touring) and a "JNCO" performance (featuring a cast of rotating improvisers from around Columbus). We have celebrated over 40 events and past performers include: James Mckain, Stephan Haluska, Mike Forbes, Bobb Hatt, Sfyria Trio, D.Turner Matthews, Chris Pitsiokos and others...

    Whatever You Niche

A podcast I hosted/ recorded/ helped organize from 2017-2019. It was a podcast about having conversations with people who are very much into a particular topic or are apart of a misunderstood community... Topics included: the fury-fandom, bread making, paganism, woodworking, drug addiction, dungeons & dragons and much much more! Maybe it will live again at some point in the future...!!

  • bio

Caleb Miller is a keyboardist, saxophonist, composer and educator in Columbus, OH. His work mostly focuses on midwestern perspectives surrounding creative, new improvisational-based music and projects. In addition to his personally lead projects (Gault, pincer, Here Here) Caleb plays, writes and subs in many jazz-adjacent projects (Yumbambe, Troy Kunkler 4tet, Taylor K COnrad), songs-oriented groups (Zack Kouns and His Insatiable Orchestra, Carr and Company, Confusions, Francis Bacon Band), contemporary classical settings (dance accompanist, classical pianist) and other settings (solo work, Sun Trash, audio work, Very Much Recordings, music videos, album artwork). As output he is most interested in productions that show a true synthesis of perspectives, sounds, individuals and communities. Music and projects that strive for some form of “newness” regardless of the setting, people or situation. Caleb also currently operates the Columbus-based recording label Very Much Recordings and teaches in the American public (!) school system.

  • heroes are real people

    - I used to have a large list of meaningful people, artists, friends, family etc here but it became quite tedious to maintain (Dan DiPiero used to have an excellent version of this idea on his site)... don't forget to connect daily, we are here (often) because of eachother. Meaningful meaningmaking is right in front of us in the form of those we know. To life, love and deepening meaning in our own scenario/ lyfe/ situation...! We are nowhere else.
